AutoZone Assembling LLC built 35 Toyota Hiace ambulances for the Ministry of Health in Somalia in 2024. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation funded the vehicles as a donation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and contracted us to manufacture and deliver the fleet.
The Ministry specified advanced life support. We fitted each unit with automatic loading stretchers, oxygen cylinders with medical regulators and outlets, suction units, patient monitors, defibrillators, and ventilators, so crews can treat and stabilise patients during transfer rather than only transport them.
The Hiace standard roof was the platform. It is one of the most widely serviced vehicles across East Africa, which matters more than it sounds: a donated fleet only holds its value if local workshops can keep it running years after delivery. Parts and mechanical knowledge for the Hiace already exist in the region.
We built the patient compartments with separate air conditioning, insulation, and ventilation for the climate the fleet works in. We laid out the cabinets, oxygen lines, and equipment mounting for a crew working in a standard-roof van, where floor space and headroom are both tight.
Donation projects carry the same requirements as any government order, and often tighter deadlines. We delivered all 35 units as a single fleet, inspected against one specification. We work as an ambulance supplier to health ministries, aid organisations, and donor programmes, building ambulances and mobile clinics for markets across Africa and the Middle East.
