AutoZone Assembling LLC has supplied more than 300 tactical 4×4 security pickups into Angola over recent years, working through government bodies and non-government organisations connected to UN peacekeeping operations during and after the civil war.
The base unit is a single-cab pickup with a rear compartment seating eight peacekeeping personnel. We fit a public address system with light bars and siren, and a heavy-duty bullbar for frontal protection. Suspension took the most attention. Angolan terrain runs from desert to unmaintained off-road, and a standard pickup suspension does not survive that loaded with eight personnel and equipment. We upgrade the springs and damping at our factory before the vehicle ships.
Units can also be specified with jerry can mounts for fuel and water on long deployments, internal and external roll cages, and canvas covers for the rear compartment. Border security units in Angola run these vehicles on patrol, and the specification varies by what each operator needs. We installed mounting for satellite antennas and VHF radio matched to the frequency ranges these units operate on, with our team completing those installations in the Angolan market directly.
